WES is celebrating Unity Day on Friday, October 14! Wear and share ORANGE to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion!

Mady Pence, Jordyn Reeb, Ryleigh Bloodsworth, Alexa Click, Mackenzie McCoy, Oaklee Adams, and Avery Wahlert

Read to Succeed! Westfall High School Cheerleaders had a great time reading to our Elementary students today! #BuildingChampions #GoMustangs

WES Student Council is hosting a canned food drive on Wednesday, October 12, Community Action Day. We hope to fill the pantry for Westfall CARES! The items most needed are mac and cheese, soup, veggies, ravioli, ramen noodles, oatmeal packets, granola bars, pudding cups, peanut butter, but we will take any donations. Thank you for your support of our students here at WES!

Congratulations to our September Staff Members of the Month:
Shannon Nunemaker, Tara Caudill, Suzie Rice, Alissa Streitenberger, and Dianna Swain
We proudly recognize your outstanding contributions and commitment to success!

Thursday is Jersey and Hat Day! Bring in $1 and wear your favorite hat, jersey, or shirt to support any fall sport!

Mrs. Swain's fifth-grade class recently learned how water towers work through the use of pressure. Using only paper, they were challenged with building a water tower that was 12" high and could hold 8 ounces of water for a minimum of 10 seconds. They brainstormed ideas, created prototypes, tested and redesigned, working together to create a sturdy structure.

Congratulations to Julie Lohstroh and Jaxon McKinley for earning Positive Office Referrals! Julie always does her best work and takes time to help her friends do something they don't understand. Jaxon champions his bus ambassador duty every day! He takes it seriously and cares enough to ask an adult to help, clarify, or assist. They received a "brag tag" from Mr. Jude and Mrs. B for going above and beyond!

REMINDER: Westfall Local School District is having a Teacher In-Service Day on Monday, October 3.

WES Student Council is hosting a traditional Trunk or Treat Wednesday, October 26, from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. Staff and community members will be set up in front of the school. You can park your car and walk on the sidewalk to visit each car to get candy and treats.
Student Council is also hosting a silent auction in loving memory of Tiffany Elster. We will be auctioning off painted foam pumpkins. All the proceeds from this auction will go to providing Christmas meals for WES families because Tiffany loved Christmas. You do not need to be present to win. Because of Tiffany's love of Christmas, the Field of Dreams Committee will also host a silent auction for decorated themed Christmas trees. These proceeds will go back to WES in Tiffany's memory to provide enrichment grants for students and staff. We hope to have pictures available on the WES Facebook page about a week prior to the event. Thank you for supporting Student Council and Field of Dreams and for helping us honor Tiffany's love for the Westfall community and school!
We look forward to seeing you at this fun community event!

Read Like a Hero! Our Intervention Services Team creates a culture where learning is fun! They inspire a passion for reading among our students, boosting their confidence, and giving them the fundamental building blocks for success.

REMINDER: WES Picture Day is on Tuesday, September 27! You can send in an order form on picture day or order online at mylifetouch.com with ID code: EVTSJ7KBP.

This series of Zoom meetings, led by licensed therapists, will be held on the 4th Tuesday of each month. These meetings are geared toward parents and caregivers to identify, understand, and positively impact their child's mental health needs. To register, please visit the links provided on the flyer.

Best wishes to our 2022 Westfall representatives for the "Greatest Free Show on Earth" Circleville Pumpkin Show! Pictured (L-R): Ava Heath, Miss Pumpkin Show; Holly Groves, Little Miss Pumpkin Show; and Audrey McCoy, Miss Pumpkin Show.
Ava and Audrey were selected by their peers and will represent Westfall High School. Holly was chosen as a part of our annual Little Miss Westfall raffle and will represent Westfall Elementary! Congratulations, and best of luck!

Children make sense of the world through play. Creativity is encouraged through play-based activities using as many senses as possible. Our morning preschool class with Ms. Talea and Ms. Chris is full of hands-on fun and exploration!

For those who may be interested in getting a flu vaccine for their child, Pickaway County Public Health is holding a clinic for kids ages six months and up on Saturday, October 15, from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.

A new Cub Scout Pack is forming in our area! If you have an adventurous 1st-5th grader that wants to join scouts, come join our club! Westfall Elementary 5th graders have begun to work in our Mustang STEM Innovation Lab using the Engineering Design Process. They had so much fun Asking, Imagining, Planning, Creating, Sharing, and Improving their designs. They built zip lines using legos and materials during week one. The following week, they learned about catapults and trebuchets and built their catapults to see how far a mini marshmallow could fly, focusing on design and distance. We can’t wait for everyone else at WES to experience these design challenges in the Mustang STEM Innovation Lab!

Our students love to learn with Snap Circuits! They are a great intro to circuitry & electronics. This type of hands-on learning teaches students engineering principles and introduces them to the unique circuitry that power lights, sound, and movement.
