Deputy Freeman recently visited Mrs. Woods’ class as a guest reader! He shared The Big Umbrella before leading a group discussion about kindness and inclusion. He then created a visual of how they can be someone else’s “umbrella” by helping others. Thanks, Deputy Freeman!

Mrs. Bond’s 4th-grade class studied the literal heart… literally! Through a generous donation from Train Station Meats & Market LLC in Circleville, the class examined two real bovine hearts—one intact to study the external structure and one filleted to observe the internal chambers, valves, and vessels. This hands-on experience brought their science lessons to life and gave students a realistic view of how the heart works.

Today, our 5th-graders had the incredible opportunity to tour Ohio Stadium at The Ohio State University! They learned about the history of the stadium’s construction, explored the press boxes, luxury suites, Steinbrenner Band Center, and football locker room before running through the tunnel and onto the field!
This experience created memories they will never forget. A huge thank you to The Ohio State University for the unforgettable tour, and to Westfall Elementary CIA - Community in Action, Westfall Education Foundation, Westfall Field of Dreams, Mrs. Patterson, and Mrs. Wolfe for making this wonderful opportunity possible!

Coming Soon! Westfall Elementary's Field of Dreams Committee is hosting a silent auction for theme-decorated raffle baskets! Many years ago, Field of Dreams started a silent auction of Christmas trees in loving memory of a beloved Westfall alum, Tiffany Elster, who loved to celebrate Christmas early.
We are continuing with this silent auction, but this year, we are introducing raffle baskets! Different teams from WES have put together various themed raffle baskets for bidding. A portion of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to fund a scholarship for a Westfall High School student pursuing a career in nursing.
The Westfall community also recently lost another alum, Barb Steward. Both Barb and Tiffany were nurses, so this scholarship will help continue their legacy of helping others through nursing. If you would like to donate to the scholarship but not bid on a raffle basket, donations can be dropped off at the elementary school office and will be accepted in the form of cash or a check written to WEF-FOD.
How will the auction work? Pictures of the baskets will be posted on the WES Facebook page by Wednesday, October 22, or sooner. Bidding can begin there, but will continue in person during Trunk or Treat. You do not have to be present to win, but to ensure a win, you will want to be present when the auction ends at 7:00 PM. Payment will be due upon pickup of the basket (cash or checks made payable to WEF-FOD). If you win the bid on Facebook, someone will reach out to you within one to two days of the auction to arrange for pickup of your basket at the Westfall Elementary front office.

Westfall Elementary students recently had a special visit from Matt Goodman of the Columbus Ghostbusters! Students got an up-close look at the Ghostbusters ECTO Truck, learned how it works, and even toured the inside. Matt shared his uniform, proton pack, and ghost trap, along with some samples of ectoplasm left behind by ghosts. Students also had fun building their own Stay Puft Marshmallow Man using marshmallows and toothpicks, and took home coloring sheets and handmade stickers!
