Westfall's Field of Dreams Committee is hosting "Christmas in October," a silent auction for theme-decorated Christmas trees in memory of beloved alum Tiffany Elster. Trees will be decorated by the WES staff and available by silent auction. This year, we are dedicating our trees to all in the Westfall community who have won or lost their battle with cancer. A portion of the funds raised will go to Pickaway County Hospice. How will the auction work? Pictures of the decorated trees will be posted on the WES Facebook page by Monday, October 23, or sooner. Bidding can begin there but will continue in person during Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 25. You do not have to be present to win, but to ensure a win; you will want to be present when the auction ends at 7:00 PM. Payment will be due when you pick up the tree. If you win the bid on Facebook, someone will reach out to you within a day or two of the auction to arrange pickup of your tree. Thank you for supporting Field of Dreams and helping us honor Tiffany's love for the Westfall community and school!

After learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, Mrs. Wippel’s 2nd graders released their beautiful Monarch. Not only does raising butterflies provide a fun and positive experience for students, but it is also a great teaching tool to learn about biology and nature. Safe travels, Lady Monarch!

At Westfall Elementary, we're focusing on positive behaviors with "Mustang PRIDE." PRIDE stands for Prepared, Respectful Individuals, Determined to Excel. Our students can earn rewards by meeting these positive behavior expectations. They can redeem these rewards for items in our Mustang PRIDE Store or classroom incentives such as treats, homework passes, and preferential seating. To kick off the first quarter, the Westfall High School Band and Color Guard performed, and six students were chosen from the crowd to play a dice game. When the dice hit the lucky number, the principals had to pucker up and kiss a PIG! Many thanks to the Wippel Farm for allowing us to hang out with their sweet piglet!

Our third-grade classes took advantage of the heat on Tuesday to drive their science instruction! They used the power of the sun to create solar ovens and cooked S’mores outside! They discussed how different colors and materials absorb heat and change the states of matter. The chocolate bar changed from a solid to a liquid in the heat!
