GROVE CITY — Saturday, the Westfall wrestling team brought home another first-place win at the Comet Classic Wrestling Tournament.

The Mustangs took first place with a score of 226.5 and had three first-place finishers. Gage Bolt finished first in the 165-pound weight class and earned his 100th career win.

Westfall wrestling Coach Will Breyer described Bolt’s performance in one word: domination.

“He is one of the best wrestlers in the state. His knowledge of the sport still surprises me after all these years.”

Bryson Campfield also finished first place at the tournament in the 120-pound weight class. Breyer said Campfield is a talented freshman who has gifts he can’t coach.

“He just needs to continue to reach for his goals and get better,” the Coach said.

John Siders won first place in the 285-pound weight class for the Mustangs. Breyer said his final match was amazing.

“He has come so far. We were down by one and John needed to win for us to win the championship. He did not blink and won when the pressure was on.”

Also placing in the top three for the Mustangs were Brady Speakman who got second in the 106-pound weight class, Bryce Wickline finished second in the 175-pound weight class, and Wes Moats finished second in the 215-pound weight class. Wyatt Ward placed third in the 138-pound weight class.

As the season continues, Breyer said the goals are the same as they always are.

“We have to become better in the sport of wrestling. Each wrestler knows what they need to do to max out this season. The team is growing and on track with our goals but we need to stay focused.”
