Westfall Local School District is pleased to welcome Mr. Matthew Pentiuk as the new Assistant Principal at Westfall Elementary School. Entering his 17th year with the district and his 19th year in education, Mr. Pentiuk brings a wealth of experience, a student-centered approach to leadership, and a strong commitment to building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.
Mr. Pentiuk earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wittenberg University in 2006 before completing his teaching degree at Ashland University in 2009. He later earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Ashland University in 2021, further preparing him for school leadership.
Throughout his career at Westfall, Mr. Pentiuk has served in several roles, including Middle School Math Teacher, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal at Westfall Middle School. This year marks an exciting new chapter as he transitions to Westfall Elementary School, where he looks forward to supporting the district's younger students.
"I was drawn to this Elementary Assistant Principal position because of the school's strong sense of community and its commitment to helping every student succeed," Mr. Pentiuk said. "I'm excited to work alongside our dedicated staff and families to create a positive, engaging learning environment for all students."
As he begins the school year, Mr. Pentiuk's priorities include building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, supporting high-quality instruction, and growing a safe, welcoming school culture where every child can thrive.
Outside of school, Mr. Pentiuk enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara, a Reading Specialist with Lancaster City Schools, and their two children, Mac and Cora. Mac, who will be entering third grade, enjoys rock climbing and is a member of his swim team, while Cora, who will be entering first grade, enjoys gymnastics and also participates on the swim team. The family enjoys traveling together and recently spent part of their summer exploring Seattle and Vancouver while attending two FIFA World Cup matches.
In his free time, Mr. Pentiuk also enjoys hiking and cheering on his favorite teams, including Ohio State and Chelsea Football Club. He believes strong partnerships between schools and families are important to student success and looks forward to getting to know the Westfall Elementary community throughout the year.
